MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sara Brown, LCSW-C

Sara Brown, Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) has over 15 years of experience in providing quality counseling services to individuals, families, couples and groups. She is the co-owner of Better Days Counseling LLC, a Lanham Maryland group practice that she shares with fellow therapist Lourdine Jean-Francois, LCPC.

Better Days Counseling LLC was started in 2013 due to a sincere love for counseling, and the desire to empower, support, and uplift others toward their goals. Their philosophy is that better days are possible for everyone, and they are eager to support clients as they journey through life. The practice is made up of four caring therapists that serve clients from all walks of life, though the majority of its clientele tends to be made up of African American females age 18-45 as well as youth and couples.

Better Days Counseling provides strengths-based services to adults, families, and children. One major focus is to overcome the stereotypes that tend to prevent people from seeking counseling, while empowering clients to reach their goals. Ms. Brown began her career working with youth and adolescents in the foster care and child welfare system. Through this work, she saw the positive effects of having caring, supportive, consistent clinicians to build therapeutic relationships that would help bring change to the lives of those she served.

In addition to business ownership, Ms. Brown currently serves as the Director for the Veteran’s Housing First Team at Pathways to Housing DC. The daughter of a marine veteran, Ms. Brown is extremely passionate about veteran’s issues. She has been working with Pathways to Housing DC since 2002, helping chronically homeless veterans with mental illness find housing.  She is proud to be a part of the collaborative effort to end veteran homelessness throughout the country, and especially in Washington DC. Ms. Brown is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University where she received her BSW. She received her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
